Abbe Keultjes
In no particular order: software engineer, listener of music, aspiring functional programming guru, reader of books, dad of three, software educator, occasional cinephile.
Software engineer
I’ve been writing software professionally for over Since August 2007, with more than a decade focused on frontend development as a consultant. I’m known for delivering robust, well-considered implementations, combining a keen eye for detail with a thorough approach to both code and problem-solving. My primary languages are JavaScript and TypeScript.
My work combines hands-on development with careful attention to software architecture, with functional programming playing a central role. I also enjoy coaching fellow programmers on coding practices, communication, and sharing knowledge effectively.
Aspiring functional
programming guru
Code should be simple (not easyRich Hickey on YouTube), maintainable, and communicate its intent clearly. That’s why I strongly prefer the functional programming paradigm: controlled side effects, immutable data, and functions as building blocks. This approach helps me build systems that are easier to reason about, test, and evolve over time.
I’m drawn toward any language with a strong foundation in functional programming (F#, Haskell, etc.), but I have a soft spot for Clojure and its community.
Software educator
I’m a software educator with experience designing and teaching workshops and talks on modern JavaScript and functional programming. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into practical, approachable lessons for audiences ranging from beginners to experienced developers.
Dad of three
And a husband to one ❤️.
